Badante
Badante (in Italian, plural BADANTI) is a live-in care worker that takes care of the elderly in Italy, usually in their own homes. In Romanian the term is used as badantă or alticulated as badanta, with plural badante. The Italian state usually pays a contribution to the family of the elderly and the family is responsible with the contracts they sign with the care workers, the hours worked, free time allowances and other duties (cooking, cleaning the house, medication). Sometimes the care workers live only with the elderly they take care of. Other times, in the same house, live also some other relatives of the elderly.
